Hong Kong, July 13, 2018 - The BVI Government has announced that Ms. Elise Donovan, Director of BVI House Asia, will transition to the interim Director of the BVI London Office (BVILO) from next month.
In a farewell statement to Asia colleagues, Ms. Donovan stated, “I have been honoured to serve as the BVI’s Asia Representative over the past four and a half years. It has been a distinct privilege for me to help build awareness of the BVI in the most dynamic region of the world today.”
BVI House Asia was launched in September 2013 as the Asia Pacific Regional Office based in Hong Kong to strengthen and further develop the BVI’s deep relationship with the region. BVI House Asia is responsive in real time, answering any questions about BVI business and working with industry practitioners to increase knowledge about the use of BVI structures and economic business opportunities.
According to the Capital Economics report, Creating Value: The BVI’s Global Contribution, Asia accounts for two-fifths of the total value of all active BVI Business Companies.
The BVI remains at the forefront of international corporate structuring for cross-border transactions worldwide and assist Asian clients in structuring outbound investment access various priority sectors – among them energy, infrastructure, technology and agriculture.
“I am pleased that BVI is an ‘embedded brand’ in Asia and is still the go-to offshore jurisdiction for most structuring conduits,” Ms. Donovan said.
Premier, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE said, “Elise will be a strong addition to the team in London while we identify a permanent successor and I look forward to working closely with her on the many priorities the London Office has, including support for our economic pillars of financial services and the tourism sector, and ensuring that the BVI is well represented to all key stakeholders in the UK as well as the wider European arena.”
From January Ms. Donovan will return to the BVI where she will take up the role of CEO of BVI Finance. Meanwhile, the BVI Government has already started the search for a successor for Ms. Donovan as Director of BVI House Asia.
